Webinars- Agriculture and Investments in Serbia

Date: September 22, 2020
Time: 11:00 - 00:00
Location: Belgrade

Almost half of the exports of agricultural products from Serbia are directed to the European Union market. Alignment with EU legislation, especially in the field of food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary standards, would lead to an increase in the quality of food that our citizens consume, as well as to an increase in exports to the EU. The EU has set initial benchmarks for Serbia in both Chapter 11 - Agriculture and Rural Development and Chapter 12 - Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Standards, but Serbia has not yet reached them.

Topics to be raised during the debate:

  • Alignment with EU legislation, especially in the field of food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary standards
  • Opportunity for Serbia to use EU support in the agricultural sector, to increase competitiveness and prepare for participation in the EU Common Agricultural Policy
  • Serbia's readiness to participate in the EU's agricultural policy and the next necessary steps on the road to the EU
  • A review of good examples of investments and projects in agriculture that are currently being implemented in Vojvodina and the rest of Serbia
